I am a landlord. How do I get started?
What type of tenancy will I have?
Most new private lets in Scotland since 1 December 2017 are Private Residential Tenancies. We will confirm the tenancy type and terms before you sign.
Is my deposit protected?
Yes. Scottish law requires every tenancy deposit to be lodged with a government-approved tenancy deposit scheme within 30 working days of the tenancy starting. Vaniah Properties works with SafeDeposits Scotland.
How much deposit will I need to pay?
The deposit is set for each property and shown in the listing or confirmed when you enquire. By law in Scotland a deposit cannot be more than two months of rent.
Will I be charged letting fees as a tenant?
No. In Scotland it is unlawful for landlords or letting agents to charge tenants fees or premiums on top of the rent and a refundable deposit.
